Down Syndrome Affiliates in Action Statewide Collaboration

With multiple DSA’s throughout each state, it’s easy to stick to your “territory” and go on with business as usual. In this presentation, Ohio DSA leaders will share the impact of how having regular, scheduled meetings as a group can lead to positive outcomes. No matter what size your DSA is, there is a lot to gain by working together to strategize for the interests of all families impacted by Down syndrome within your state.

Attendees will:

Gain ideas on possible advocacy initiatives with which collaboration can gain momentum and success (i.e. awareness license plates, Down Syndrome Information Act, Organ Transplant Anti-Discrimination legislation)
Gain ideas on how to resolve state-centric issues and educate families in the best way possible (i.e. STABLE Accounts (Ohio’s ABLE program), Waiver waiting lists, Post-secondary opportunities)
Gain ideas on fundraising and marketing strategies that benefit all DSA’s (i.e. Lamar, Little Caesar’s, Utility Companies)
